Page Lizard attended the PPA's Independent Publisher conference and awards last Friday. This event celebrated the achievements of independent publishers, and we were proud to be supporters of the vital contributions these publishers make.

This year's event was completely sold out. We managed to bag ourselves some great seats (right at the back) for the awards, and watched as the winners rolled up and over the stage all afternoon long. There were some great snaps taken throughout the day which you can see in the gallery below, or on the PPA's live photo stream.

As the nights draw in, most of us would rather be at home snuggled up with a glass of mulled wine and the latest episode of The Apprentice. Last night, Page Lizard were proud to support the annual PPA Digital Awards, celebrating the projects and companies at the forefront of digital publishing creativity and innovation.

Last week we hosted a tech talk at the Publishers Association (PPA) in London on the subject of "HTML apps, the way forward". I originally had a question mark in the title, but was told by the other participants Michael Kowalski, Founder of Contentment, the developer behind the Padify platform and Clare Evans, a Front End Developer at Kaldor who produce the PugPig platform to take it out. There is no question that HTML apps ARE the way forward, it seems.

We often get asked the question "Why should we make our magazine digital?" by membership organisations.

That is just what we aimed to address in our talk at the Memberwise conference yesterday, entitled 'Reinventing your membership magazine for the digital age'.
