Apple News finally launches in the UK

Apple's News has launched in the UK in partnership with 14 publishers including The Sun, The Times and The Telegraph as well as magazine titles like Condé Nast's Vogue and Traveller.

The app is available for users who install the new iOS 9.1 version and brings together an aggregated feed from various channels which users can personalise. According to Apple, its own algorithms will learn what users like to read and will suggest content in line with their interests.

It's finally over for page-turners

The writing has been on the wall for page-turning magazines for the past five years. This week's announcement that Firefox will block all versions of Adobe Flash should be its death knell.

This is a severe blow to many publishers who rely on page-turning digital editions. Adobe Flash is still the work-horse for converting PDFs into browser-friendly page-flippers for millions of publications a month.
